BECOME A FOSTER CARER

Want to make a difference in the lives of animals in our region? There are lots of ways you can get involved.

What does fostering involve?

Foster carers are vital in helping us save animal’s lives. They provide shelter, responsible care and love to our foster animals while they are waiting for their forever home.

You will also have the enormous satisfaction of knowing that you have made a difference to an animals life and well being.

All veterinary expenses are met by CAA and foster carers must be members of the organisation which involves a membership fee of $33 per year.

Not a CAA member?

For insurance reasons you MUST be a CURRENT FINANCIAL MEMBER of CAA to be a  foster carer.

How many fosters can I have?

Capricorn Animal Aid has been permitted by the Rockhampton Regional Council to allow registered foster carers with CAA to have up to 3 dogs in total on their property. This is dependent on the suitability of the yard and includes your own pets.

What is the process?

Carers must be a member of CAA and have completed the Foster Carer Application Form.   Please allow 3-7 days for processing.  One of our volunteer adoption coordinators will then contact you to discuss the type of foster you would like.  They will also view your property and environment for the foster animals in order to determine the most appropriate pets for you to foster.
